Slapton Sands – Operation Tiger Memorial & U.S. Army Memorial

If you are not aware of the events of 28th April 1944, the tablet above explains the bare bones.  749 Americans died that day, and 300 were wounded or injured, would you believe ten times the losses they suffered on Utah beach on 6th June!  Whether there was, or wasn’t, a cover-up of the whole incident at the time is still, it seems, a moot point.
