Interesting to see this inscription remembering the men of the United States Army who were billeted around here in 1944.

One killed so far from home, one so near, and yet so far.  So sad.

Again, some great photos. The one for the 7-year-old evacuee especially sad and the one of the crosses with the poppies worn off so poignant. Thanks for sharing.

Tell me about it. Terribly sad.

You are too kind, Susan! Unfortunately, and ironically, I may have subsequently let you down. I’m not so sure that the post I have just uploaded (Desplanque Farm Cemetery) will come up to your high expectations photography-wise. Mind you, it does have atmosphere, I think you’ll find.

LOL! I have no expectations at all – how could you let me down? There is no other way for me to see these wonderful places – you could post Polaroids and I’d enjoy them. The fact that you do take such care is just a bonus.
