Remembrance in Miniature

Because it’s going to take a while to write the text to accompany the photos I took last week (and yes, we also have more French Flanders cemeteries to visit, and I promised you Kemmel for this year – I may have lied – and there’s a stroll along the Aubers Ridge to come and a tour around the cemeteries at Voormezeele and………), here’s a few photos, taken this very afternoon (on the phone camera, before you ask) as I spent an hour away from the grindstone at a local model railway show.

My father was the railway nut in the family, but I like models – used to be a modeller in another lifetime – and as you can imagine I was rather taken by this layout.  Celebrating 101 years now, of course.

Nice one Frank.

That’s a great railway layout M thanks for sharing, have been to a number of model railway displays over the years, I find the attention to detail and the realism but on such a small scale astonishing, never seen one dedicated to war memorials.

Isn’t it fab! If you look carefully you’ll notice that it is spring on the left side of the board, with appropriate flora, and of course November on the right. Good ol’ Frank.

I hadn’t realised that, thanks for pointing it out, just so much incredible detail
