Hayle – St. Elwyns Church

Private George Sleeman’s name can be found on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial, a few miles south east of Arras.

Sergeant John Richards, South African Service Corps, is buried in Taveta Military Cemetery (the link is to the CWGC website, where you’ll find a photograph of the cemetery), on the border between Kenya & Tanzania,…

…and as we see few African GRRFs on this here site, what better opportunity to show you one.

By coincidence, Private Pearce’s name can be also be found among the almost 10,000 British dead listed on the Vis-en-Artois Memorial.

Memorial to Private William Hosking, D.C.L.I., killed on 18th March 1915, and another man with no grave, his name to be found on the Menin Gate; he was the first of fifty two men from Hayle to die during the Great War.

So I suppose we should visit the war memorial next.
