   The Whitehorse school has the name of my grandfathers brother George Stunell.
   Spelt incorrectly as Stunnell.

   Last time I drove past it, a few months back now, there was a lot of building work or somesuch going on to the left of the memorial, but the memorial itself is still in the same place as far as I could see. Sorry the photos aren’t really up to the usual standard; taken on an old mobile I’m afraid. I see that George Stunell (correctly spelt on the CWGC website) was an East Surrey man. I wonder if we have any information on him in the archives where I work? I shall have a look.

     Thanks for having a look, my granddaughter is doing a research project for her school. My late Aunt was deeply affected by her brothers death and never got to visit le krule in France where he was laid to rest. We hope to travel there this year.

       A colleague of mine is looking into George Stunell for me; if we find anything, and there are no guarantees, I will most certainly let you know. It’s a shame your aunt never managed to visit, but I do hope you manage to get there. Let me know if you do.

         Well now, George doesn’t exactly appear to have had a regulation army existence before he was sadly killed, does he? We have found out quite a few things about him, but we have a slight problem with dates that we need to sort out. Interesting stuff though. I don’t know, of course, whether anything we come up with will be unknown to you, but we shall see.

           Not much known about George , We think he was a news caller before going to war .Any info would be great thanks
