Another set of Bamforths, and this time I shall let you into a little secret. 

A snowy scene today, from the Alpine front.  Austrians – ‘our brave Styrians & Carinthians’ – waiting to ambush advancing Italian troops below. 

Oh, how we laughed. 

Magnificent early French card entitled ‘Taking a summit in the Vosges’.  Note the two Chasseurs Alpins on the right.  And the shrapnel!  I’m not sure that position is in the bayonet-training handbook either, but whatever works……

The Germans could do sentimental stuff too.  Don’t do it!

C0lour film was around even early in the Great War, and this is a true colour photograph – not coloured – of a German machine-gun position in the Champagne region of France in 1915.

I showed you an early postcard produced by Bamforth & C0. Ltd a couple of days ago, so today we take a look at a more typical Bamforth production from the Great War years.
