I have been researching Cecil Victor Masters life, it seems that he was born Tucker but his mother, Annie Amelia died just after giving birth. He was adopted by the Masters family, and became my Grandmothers (Sarah Ann Masters) adopted brother. C.V Masters served with the 9th Battalion Devonshire Regt (not the 2nd Btn as it states on the memorial). He was transferred to the 8th Battalion Machine Gun Corps on the 14th March 1918, and it was this Battalion he was serving when he was killed on the 25th March 1918 at the battle of The Somme Crossings.
    Regards. David
