Hope for us all then?
Indeed! Lol!
Now that is an interesting picture! A German postcard I presume, showing a surviving German U-boat crewman still in dire straits. What sort of message does that portray to the recipient? Certainly a very different one to the usual victorious propaganda images we expect to see. There surely can’t have been many published with such negative connotations. fascinating.
But he’s saved the flag, and by extension, the nation, or something like that. Wait until tomorrow’s offering, and lmk your thoughts then.
This postcard image shows strong emotions with many potential reasons – I shall await with anticipation how others interpret today’s offering – thank you Magicfingers for testing my grey matter, the results which for the moment I will keep to myself. On the other hand perhaps you will divulge further?
See my reply to Nick. See what you think of tomorrow’s offering and see if that fits your theory/theories. I am intrigued.
Yes your reply to Nick could be one – what I meant is “Do you have more info on the postcard?”. He’s definitely got his back to the wall. It is an amazing image.
I have a number of possibilities for the look on his face – here’s one: It’s a pre-sunrise sky (we call it “Piccaninny Dawn”). Marooned, he waved the flag at a passing ship but it was his enemy. The ship is approaching with spotlight and 4 inch gun trained on him …. he’s realised he’s a goner and that his underwear is staining brown (Do I hear your heh heh)
Indeed you do! The card, however, contains no other information at all.
