Too late to qualify for an official CWGC headstone, Robert Philpot’s family gave hin an ersatz one anyway.  And quite right too.

    Thank you for this. Found looking for War Memorial where William John Williams R.M.L.C.from Ashton might be remembered.
    W. J. Williams survived the sinking of the troopship Royal Edward 13 August 1915 only to die 30 Jun 1918 in France.
    My family plot is here, with my Grandfather remembered who did not survive the sinking. They joined up together.
