   I like the text on the memorial; not only those who perished, but also those who survived that terrible war and the victims of later conflicts are remembered in the text!

     Me too. You do encounter lists of the men who survived as well but not too frequently. You know my feelings about the men who survived being the truly forgotten men, so it always gladdens me to see text like this, or names of the survivors.
